Can A Facial Ruin Your Face?

The purpose of a basic facial is simple, its a multi-step skin treatment that involves cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and a mask. That my friends, is a basic facial and thats what I thought I was going to receive from a licensed Esthetician.

I had some breakouts on my cheek and I wanted a good extraction to help get rid of the impurities. This "facialist" was recommended to me as she is known to get every single blackhead and pimple out of your face. Unfortunately, what I received was some scaring and even more breakouts than I had in the first place. The sad thing is this all could have been avoided if I just went to my regular Esthetician who has extracted me many times, always leaving my skin better than she found it. The "she will squeeze the hell out of your face" sounded so appealing though... 

 Can a facial ruin your face? Absolutely it can. The main cause is trusting your face onto inexperienced hands but even licensed Estheticians can ruin your skin. In Esthetics school I learned that being "licensed' means that you paid thousands of dollars to get a certificate and you passed a test. However, in Esthetics school I came across so many of these woman that in all honesty did not deserve to graduate and be able to head out in the world with a license to ruin peoples face. I loved everyone in my class, but the truth is the truth and the truth and some of them should have chosen a different career (which some of them realized and did shortly after graduation) 

I want you to be clear that having a license does not make anyone an expert. What makes an Esthetician an expert is years of practice but most important is understanding moderation. Knowing what is ok to extract and when its best to leave alone is a true testament of a skilled Esthetician and always making sure that the skin is left better than it was when you found it. 

Another way your skin can get ruined by facials is by over treating it with harsh chemicals and peels. Beware of these Estheticians as well, you want to make sure that the two of you are crystal clear on what your goals are and a smart and safe way of achieving them. Facials can be very expensive, and I understand that you want to get the most out of your money, but trust me thats not the best approach to have when it comes to a facial. 

Last but not least DO NOT let anyone without a license touch your face... I know you are probably thinking "Steffany didn't you just say the whole licensed thing didn't matter?" Well it does, because that license will protect you. It is whats going to tell you that at the very least this person learned some basic sanitation. Having that knowledge will hopefully keep you from leaving there with an infection. 

My Dermatologist and I were speaking the other day and he was telling me how he had a patient come to him for a "pimple" that never healed after a facial. It wasn't a pimple at all, it was basal cell cancer. He also told me about patients with chemical burns that now have to spend thousands of dollars in laser treatment to correct the damage. 

My advise to all of you is simple, do your research and get multiple opinions. If you are dealing with breakouts on a regular basis start by addressing your health and or see a dermatologist. They are not exempt from making mistakes when treating you but the odds are less. Don't let the price of something be what convinces you to do a treatment, find a great Esthetician that will care for your skin and help you achieve your skin goals safely.

Drugstore Skincare Product Of The Week: Nivea Moisturizing Body Wash Care Almond Oil Hibiscus Scent.

Nivea is one of my favorite brands for drugstore body care, their  body products are hydrating and just the perfect amount of scent. I started using the almond oil and hibiscus scent moisturizing body wash, and my skin loves it!  

It is formulated with Nivea's Hydra IQ Technology and Almond Oil, to intensely moisturize your skin, but without the greasy feel. Priced under $5, I have compared it to more expensive body washes and if not equally better its very close. 

What I like to do for extra dewy soft skin is to apply it with just my hands, like a lotion. Then I rinse it with cool to cold water. I pat dry my skin. I come out and hydrate with lotions and or oil to lock in the moisture. My skin has been so soft and hydrated this winter, I am so happy to have a budget friendly routine that works for my super dry skin.

For The Smoothest Skin: fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish Review!

   Smooth skin is life and a good scrub will give you just that. A good scrub needs the best combination of exfoliation and hydration. A scrub with no hydrating ingredients can over exfoliate which irritate the skin, one with too much oils, soaps, or other add ons can be too hydrating but not aid in the skin turnover we want from a scrub. 

What I love the most about this scrub is how soft my skin feels, and not a super oily and tacky feeling that some leave behind. A baby smooth softness that very few scrubs give. The best part is that the feeling lasts for days. Moisturizing after is really not necessary at all!

My Review: 

This peeling puff is the bomb you guys, I have purchased this like three times and its so worth it. My skin is left exfoliated, looking brighter, clearer, smother and its so simple to use. 

I love using eye masks, I have puffy under eye bags that are a pain in my butt. I fin that when I use under eye masks they do improve and the concealer wears more smooth and I need less product. One brand I recently used and really liked was Wish Formula panda eye essence. My eyes definitely looked fighter and less swollen after 30 minutes of wearing this mask. 

Lips need love too, I purchased this pack of lip masks from Homegoods for $2.99!!

Finally after exfoliating your skin, you need to hydrate it and give it some nutrients! I love applying sheet masks after I exfoliate so that my skin can absorb all the goodness. 

This one from Peach And Lilly is really nice, I love how my skin feels after I use it and I don't have to rinse it off because it wears great under makeup.

Laura Mercier Candleglow Luminizing Palette Review!

I am on a major glow hunt, I don't know what it is but everything I have is not doing it for me anymore. I want that perfect glow, the kind that looks like you are shinning from within! Unfortunately this palette did not help me achieve that at all. Laura Mercier makes great products so I was very optimistic about trying this palette when I saw it in the store, but the colors all look so ashy (grayish) on my skin. The palette is lacking pigment and its just an overall fail in my opinion. Below I took pictures with and without flash, and had a hard time because the colors were not showing at all in the pictures so I packed on the color and it helped. like always this is my experience and I'm sure others will find this palette to be great so by all means check it out for yourself.

This Winter Get More Beautiful Skin And Hair/ Este Invierno Obtengan Una Piel Mas Hermosa Y cabello Mas Saludable!

I dont know about you, but I was not excited about winter this year. However I find that I am so much more motivated to work out, try out new skin treatments and let my hair rest. Below is a list of things that are better to do in the cold season.

• Try a new skin care routine, your skin probably feels drier and tighter.  The skin needs more moisture and richer so the light-oil free products might not be sufficient. 

• Add Retinol to your skin care. They're great for wrinkles and acne, but sun exposure can cause photosensitivity, so winter is best time to test them out but don't forget you still need to apply sunscreen. 

• Grow your hair! Taking supplements like biotin  may help... but they may also stimulate body-hair growth! so try them in the winter when you are no bare-legged or sleeveless. 

• Try a darker hue! Darker hair color looks healthier.

Im not one to experiment too much when it comes to my skincare routine.  I have crazy sensitive skin that breaks out very easy. I did not use this as they recommend, the facial clothes are best to keep for on the go makeup remover, or those night when we are too tired to wash our face. I used the cloths on a few occasions and I really liked it, it does what it claims and left my skin feeling clean. The anti blemish gel however did nothing to help my blemishes heal faster. Out of the two I would definitely repurchase the cloths and not the Anti-blemish gel.

This Makes Makes My Skin Bright And Even!

I get so excited when I come across products like this. I have been looking for a serum to add to my skin care routine and this one is so highly rated on Amazon that I had to try it for myself. After adding it to my skin care routine I can definitely tell a difference! my skin looks more even, bright and more toned. My discolorations have definitely faded and when I break out it heals faster! Im so happy with the results and I will definitely be keeping this as a permanent skincare product!

Chanel Soleil Tan Bronze Universal!

  I had heard so much about the Soleil Tan De Chanel, that I thought it was time to try it out! I had wanted to purchase it before, but it’s always sold out! At one point a lady at a Chanel counter told me that it had been discontinued. While I was in New York a couple weeks ago, I finally got it! Truth is, it’s just as amazing as I have heard! It is soooo velvety and smooth, it blends perfectly on skin and works great for very light contouring or all over bronze, if you just mix a small amount with your foundation. However, it is definitely not a strong bronzer, it’s very subtle and natural, which is why I love it! It actually just looks like a subtle bronze, not orange, just tanned! I love it! Do you have a favorite bronzer?

Había oído tantas cosas sobre el Soleil Tan De Chanel, que pensé que era hora de probarlo! Hubiera querido comprar antes, pero siempre se agotaron. En un momento dado una señora en un mostrador de Chanel me dijo que había sido descontinuado. Mientras yo estaba en Nueva York hace un par de semanas, finalmente lo conseguí! Es verdad, es tan sorprendente como he oído! Es tan suave y aterciopelada, se integra perfectamente en la piel y funciona muy bien para el contorno muy ligero o en bronce, si sólo usas una pequeña cantidad y la mezcla con su fundación. Sin embargo, definitivamente no es un bronceador fuerte, es muy sutil y natural, por eso me encanta! En realidad parece un bronce sutil, no naranja, sólo bronceado! ¡Me encanta! ¿Tienes un bronceador favorito?

And when its made with the right products and color scheme is even better. Benefit has been coming up with some pretty good one in the past and I am obsessed with them to say the least! The latest one is actually a collaboration with Matthew Williamson, and the colors are really gorgeous! This is perfect for any girl who like the golden look and also loves juicy red lips! The red is kind of sheer, but it is sooo sexy on! It really gives you that kind of flushed look. I also love the highlighter/blush, the whole kit is really gorgeous and worth getting for a perfect travel or on the go companion. My Holy BB!

I'm sure must of you know what a BB creme is, or what its supposed to do for your skin. For those of you who don't, in short BB creams are all-in-one product meant to save you multiple steps and help you achieve a "flawless" healthy look by providing, sun protection, anti oxidants, moisture, and color. To be completely honest this is not always the case, as the amounts of bb creams I have personally tested I can tell you that I had almost given up on the BB cream hype. That is until I came across Dior's BB Creme. I hesitated at first but still asked for a sample to take home and try, I figured why not! I am so glad I did, I am honestly in love with this BB cream, more in love than any of my other foundations to be honest. It's so pigmented that it almost looks like a foundation, but it feels so light on I cant believe I have anything on. It only comes in four shades, and I happened to match 003 perfectly, I cant wait to try more of Dior Nude collection and hopefully you can too! Do you have a favorite BB Cream I should try?

Estoy seguro que deben de saber lo que es una BB crema, o lo que su supone que va a hacer para su piel. Para quienes no lo conozcan, en resumen BB cremas es un producto todo-en-uno destinados a ahorrar varios pasos y te ayudará a lograr un "impecable" aspecto saludable en tu tono de piel, protección solar, anti oxidantes, la hidratación y color. Para ser completamente honesto, esto no es siempre el caso, dado que las cantidades de las cremas bb que yo personalmente he probado puedo decirle que casi había renunciado. Esto es, hasta que me topé con Dior BB creme. pedí una muestra para llevar a casa y probar, me di cuenta por qué no todas estavan mal. Yo estoy muy contenta de haber encontrado esta BB Creme.  Es muy pigmentada que casi parece una base, pero se siente tan ligero en la cara que pensaras que no te pusiste nada. Sólo se ofrece en cuatro colores, y me coinciden con 003 perfectamente, no puedo esperar para probar más de Dior Nude. ¿Tiene un favorito BB Crema que deba probar?

I personally notice a difference in my skin, and I sleep better, which means less stress, and less under eye circles and bags!

After Moving to the states and not having the hot sunny days 365 days a year, and hearing all the cons of sun tanning, like wrinkles, dark spots, or even worst; skin cancer. I began caring more for my skin, and needless to say started to loose that tan color and now have nothing but yellow skin. I wanted an alternative to sun tanning, but I have never been a big fan of fake tans, spray tans or anything like that! I was shopping the makeup aisle in CVS one day and decided to check out their cream section, thats when I ran by this one. I was very skeptical at first so I started trying it on my legs, a few days later applying this twice a day I started to notice my legs looked tanner and had a beautiful glow so I started applying to the rest of my body, minus the face! I love this product so much I am going out tomorrow to purchase my second bottle and will keep this in my daily routine. It evens out my skin, and even makes my stretch marks less noticeable.
